Pastor Leroy Gerner
Director of Care and CORE Ministries
Pastor Leroy Gerner serves as Director of Care and CORE Ministries at King of Kings Church. Leroy enjoys connecting all people to a relationship with Jesus through the transformational ministries of Care and The CORE.
Leroy has received degrees from University of Oklahoma and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He has been a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors for 15 years. He has served as a Chaplain for the Omaha Fire Department for 7 years.
Leroy married Mildred in 1986. They have 3 married sons and 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Millie Rose.
Administrator of The CORE
Julie graduated from Calvin College with a B.A. in Language Arts and was an elementary school teacher for five years before becoming a mom. She has worked in various capacities at King of Kings for the last six years and has been the administrator of The CORE for the past year and a half. Julie has been married to Dale for 23 years and they have three teenage sons. In her spare time she loves to read everything she can get her hands on.

Julie has worked at King of Kings Church in several capacities, including ten years as the manager of King’s Bookstore and Kids Kount Publishing. She grew up in Fremont, Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Julie has been married to Kent for 36 years and has two grown sons. She enjoys golfing, reading and traveling.
LPC, Spiritual Formation Director
Brenda is completing her doctoral degree in spiritual formation ministry from Ashland Seminary. She has worked at King of Kings Church since 2004. Her role includes intern supervision, leadership development, community outreach, and creation of classes that make it easy for people to take the next step in their walk with God. Brenda’s specialty is the Formational Prayer Ministry. She leads groups, seminars, and retreats based on this model. Brenda’s outside interests include short-term mission trips, a great cup of coffee, conversation, and attending sporting events.
Spiritual Formation Intern
Tiffany earned her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication from UNO. She brings a wealth of experience working with diverse populations. Through her time with Good Shepherd Volunteers, she learned and implemented a lifestyle in line with their four program tenets of spirituality, community, social justice, and simplicity. Tiffany will be developing, leading, and offering spiritually formative offerings in a variety of settings including seminars and groups. Her passion in ministry centers on her love of Christ and her desire for others to join her in knowing how deeply His love runs for us. Tiffany enjoys live music, dark chocolate, staying active, and quality time with friends and family.
Spiritual Formation Intern
After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from Cedarville University, Laura continued on to get a Master’s Degree in counseling from Grace College. She worked in community mental health before trading in her clipboard and couch to stay at home with her sons full-time. At King Of Kings and through The CORE, Laura’s emphasis is on a journey toward healing in Formational Prayer. She co-leads groups and offers seminars. Laura’s interests include pretty words and wild places. She drinks strong coffee, buys thrift store books, and contributes to several blogs. Formational Prayer Intern
Myron graduated from Grace University with his Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies. He is currently completing his Master of Divinity Degree at Pillar Seminary in Omaha. In addition to planting Mission Church in Omaha, Myron is completing a Formational Prayer internship at King Of Kings Church. One of the ways that Myron shares his passion for bringing the hope of Jesus to all is through the collaborative development and leadership of seminars and groups focused on inner healing. As a true family man, Myron spends most of his free-time with his wife and children as well as playing basketball, reading, or laughing.
Spiritual Formation Resident
Millie is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in Care Ministry at Nebraska Christian College. As a Spiritual Formation Resident, she provides the oversight and leadership of the Monday night ministries including Spiritual Conversation. She loves studying and learning from the other Core staff while working alongside them in ministry. After graduation, she plans to go on to get her master’s degree in Counseling at Denver Seminary. In her spare time, Millie enjoys painting, writing, and spending time with her friends and fiance.
Coordinator of Care Ministries
Karen has been doing visitation ministry for over 15 years and also works part-time as a chaplain at local hospitals where she continually has opportunities to care for the ill, the dying, and their families in the community. As a trained Stephen Minister, Karen now trains and leads our Journey Coaches. These Journey Coaches walk alongside people going through difficult times in their lives.
Karen’s passion is caring for people and bringing people comfort, hope, and truth through prayer and God’s Word. Karen loves to listen to the Lord and plan her work life around what the Lord is saying.
Karen’s personal “life statement”, written after she studied Mother Teresa’s life, is “I want my life to express the love of Jesus, the love of the cross, loving as I have been loved, and putting love into everything I do. Whatever I think, say, or do, I want to do it for Jesus. God is my power.”
